Yes, there are cleaning types, those who are a whirlwind of activity and go for broke get all their clean chored done in a day, or maybe you are more relaxed and spread tasks over the week or have a set schedule for tasks with some "me" time in between!
Maybe it's unfair to put people in categories. You may be the type that says I don't care what you think about me, or my priorities are different to yours, or just the opposite, I'm obsessed with keeping up appearances.
It's really not fair to make these judgements. After all, there are some days when I just can't cope with any kind of a mess, but days later, as relaxed as I can be with the living room and kitchen imploding.
I'm sure there are plenty of you who agree with me.
Well, just for some fun, let's determine which cleaning type you are?
You just need to reply to a straightforward question:
You receive an unexpected call from friends or family you don't see often. They want to drop in and visit in an hour or so.
What do you do?
A. You hang up and do a quick check of the house.
Are your dishes done, does the carpet look clean enough, all the washing is in the laundry, you have snacks to offer, and you're good to go. But still, find something you think should be cleaned.
B. You hang up and instantly remember a few things that need to be done before your home is suitable for guests. You do a general tidy-up of the kitchen and living room and hide the washing away. Then you make sure you look good for your guests.
C. You start feeling a familiar panicky sensation after getting off the phone. You feel overwhelmed, as usual, you have left too much cleaning to the last minute.
You notice the floor is dirty, and there are books, gadgets and toys lying around the place, washing not put away and the kitchen, well...
Your solution, throw everything into one room and close the door. No guests are allowed access!
You quickly vacuum the carpet and move things around to cover up any dirt or dust.
People live here, so, usually, there will be dishes in the sink, right?
D. You ask: Are you sure you want to come here? Can't we postpone it? You suggest meeting at a local cafe. Maybe I'll visit you next weekend?".
Ready to do almost anything just to escape the horrid housekeeping chores. You are constantly putting off until tomorrow what you should have been doing TODAY!
You look around, and the place is a mess. You have too much stuff lying around. You try your best to spruce up a little before your guests arrive.

A. Typical OCD type of behaviour
B. You are likely to enjoy the challenge of creating and optimizing a housecleaning system, but she will struggle to implement that system.
You know cleaning is not the most essential thing in the world and don't feel judged if things aren't spica and span.
C. Typical It Can Wait personality. A housekeeping chore chart is NOT a concept you have mastered.
D. Motivation is hard to find, and you are more relaxed about others' opinions of your housekeeping.
No matter what your house cleaning routine is, you have to actually do the work.
Turns out.
